The active illness always has us wishing we were someone else.  Who is your alter ego? Batman

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Being a father recovered from addiction and present for my family. 

What is your present state of mind in recovery? Grateful! Living one day at a time.

What historical figure who had the illness do you most identify with?No doubt Bill Wilson

What was the biggest paradigm shift in the recovery field over the past 25 years? Big Pharma getting there ugly claws on people who don’t need medication. No chemical cure for a spiritual malady!

What do you find yourself saying over and over again to families searching for recovery? The active substance user is only the tip of the iceberg to underlying family issues which need intense work.

 What’s your favorite 12 Step meeting to attend? Alcoholics Anonymous primary purpose meetings.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve ever done an intervention?Colombia South America

What is your favorite self-care practice? Daily meditations throughout the day. 

Is happiness overrated? Absolutely not. It’s underrated. 

What family pattern do you believe is the most pervasive? Not knowing how to show love.

What would you like on your headstone? “He was here to help others and many were helped.”
